SellerSprite Review Analysis: Turn Reviews into Insights

After Amazon merged parent and child BSR, how do you identify the best selling variation? After ratings and reviews were merged, how many reviews are actually contentful? From negative reviews, what problems do buyers complain about most and most want fixed?

You can find all of these answers inside the listing's reviews. Previously, you could bulk export reviews with the SellerSprite extension and filter in Excel by variation and star rating. By comparing review counts across variations, you could infer which variation sells best. Today, the new Review Analysis feature in the SellerSprite extension automates that workflow. On the listing detail page, generate a one click report with clear, multi dimensional tables that cut research time significantly.

In general, higher selling variations accumulate more reviews.

Star Ratings Distribution

This section shows the number of ratings for each star and each star's share of total ratings.

Average rating is 4.5. There are 6,234 five star ratings, which is 74 percent of all ratings. The high positive rate suggests a mature product with fewer after sales issues, and also limited room for improvement.
If you control your own supply chain and have strong product development capability, a niche with more negatives can be a chance to win by improving the product.

Written Review Star Distribution

This section shows the number of written reviews for each star and each star's share of total written reviews.

Here, one star written reviews are 5.7 percent, higher than the one star rating share of 3 percent. Written reviews are visible on the product page and directly influence conversion, so a higher negative share is a clear warning. Open the review list, read the specific complaints, and fix them with intent.

Feature Ratings

Data comes from the By Feature section on the listing. When buyers rate the product, Amazon suggests category specific features to rate.

These metrics show which attributes matter and how they score so you can prioritize improvements. For example, light weight scores 5.0, but comfort is 4.0, so comfort needs work.

By Feature ratings: lightweight 5.0, support 4.6, comfort 4.0.

Variation Review Trends

Select a variation to observe how its written review count changes over time and infer seasonality. We selected the variation with the most reviews, which often maps to the highest sales. There is a review peak every July. Since reviews lag orders, the sales peak likely starts in June. This insight guides when to ramp inventory and when to launch promotions.

Review List

Analyzing a competitor's reviews surfaces true product quality and buyer needs. For example, filtering one star reviews may reveal that the upper material is the main issue. If you plan to enter this niche, address that during sourcing. Or filter to the most recent one month to reflect product iterations.

You can also drill into high frequency terms in review tags. Click any term to see all related reviews. For instance, arch support appears in positive reviews but still signals a demand for better support. Solving it could lift sales in this category.

Try It Yourself

The fastest way to validate variations is to run Review Analysis on your target listings and compare the outputs side by side.
